What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements The club offers children a relaxed, safe, secure and play-based environment for children. The experienced staff team know children well and plan activities that interest and stimulate them. Children are happy as they are fully listened to and involved in deciding what they would like at their club.

Children say they can talk to staff when they feel sad, and that staff always make them feel better.The club is very well structured and children fully understand what is expected of them. For instance, there are clear routines in place for mealtimes and tidying up.

Children hang up their coats, use the toilet, wash their hands ...and fill their water bottles at the start of the session. This helps to promote children's independence. Staff use a welcome circle-time session to introduce children to what is on offer that day and allow time for children to share their news from their day at school.

Children behave well. They sit and take turns in listening to their friends. There are a wide range of activities on offer, some of which include mark making, role playing, reading and construction.

Staff support children to choose activities to engage with and set challenges to help them to maintain their focus on activities for longer. For example, children enjoy the challenge of using wooden blocks to make a chair for the club's teddy to sit on.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff spend time getting to know children and support them with making new friends at the club.

Children enjoy making 'All About Me' posters to display. This helps staff to build relationships with children as they find out about their likes and dislikes and their families. Staff encourage children to use play dough face mats to express their emotions.

Children demonstrate confidence and resilience as they talk to staff.Children enjoy the range of healthy foods on offer at mealtimes. Staff encourage them to try a range of fruits and vegetables and children respond well to this.

They give children clear messages around making healthy choices. Children understand the importance of healthy food choices and physically active play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They talk about the opportunities they have to play games, such as musical chairs and dodgeball, and how much they enjoy the team games at the club.

Staff model their expectations for children's behaviour extremely well. Children sit together at mealtimes and staff reinforce manners and the importance of saying please and thank you and in using cutlery. Children stop when asked to by staff, such as when it is time to tidy up.

They listen and respond appropriately to their friends, when staff are celebrating individual children's success. Children show great respect for one another.Parents are happy with the club and know that the experienced staff team keep their children safe.

They say their children are happy and enjoy coming. Parents are particularly pleased with the club's high expectations for children's behaviour and the range of activities on offer. They receive daily communication at pick up times and say that managers are always on hand should they need to speak with them.

The club is inclusive. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well by staff. Children enjoy learning about equality and diversity, such as they explore a range of religious festivals from around the world, including Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas and Easter.

Staff have discussions with children, read stories and children engage in a range of arts and crafts.Managers ensure that there is effective communication between the schools that children attend and the club. Staff take time to talk to teachers and school professionals about individual children's needs as well as how their day at school was.

This allows the club to support children emotionally and to plan effectively for them.This experienced managers show passion for continuous professional development and improvement. They have clear policies in place and offer staff well-being support and training opportunities.

Managers have a clear plan in moving forward by continuing to strengthen parent partnership and offering staff further opportunities to develop their skills.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.
