What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements The well-qualified staff team work well together to meet children's individual needs, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They provide a wide range of activities that inspire children to play and use their imagination, for instance a mud kitchen, a fairy house and a castle and figures that relate to children's interests.
Staff embrace the choices that children make and use their expertise to adapt their approach and ensure children's inclusion. Staff help children achieve and enjoy the activities they plan together, such as icing biscuits, making cards for special events and using collage m...aterials and paint to make pictures of jelly fish. Staff focus strongly on supporting children's happiness and well-being.
They meet children's individual emotional needs well. For example, when there are changes to the usual routine, they provide reassurance to children with SEND so they know what to expect.Staff use their comprehensive knowledge and understanding of children's individual needs to successfully gain their cooperation.
For example, they adapt their approach to manage any challenging behaviour and provide focused activities that help children to settle if they become frustrated.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The manager supports staff professional development well. She acts as a very positive role model, particularly in the way she communicates with children, which successfully influences staff practice.
Staff work well as a team to support children during their play. Their positive and energetic approach supports children's enjoyment of being at the club. For example, children show great enthusiasm as they confidently choose and use the resources.
The manager uses staff meetings and supervisions to discuss any additional support that children with SEND may need. Staff have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all children's individual needs.Since the last inspection, staff have increased the opportunities for children to make choices during their play.
They work well as a team to supervise children and keep them safe as they choose to play indoors and outdoors for most of each session.Staff support children to build the skills they need for the future. For example, they support children's independence as they encourage them to use pens and a laminated food menu to select what they would like to eat at teatime.
Children confidently complete the menus, which they give to staff preparing the food. They thoroughly enjoy eating the healthy food they choose.Staff respond to children's enjoyment of being active as they introduce group games, such as 'duck, duck goose' and 'jump the river'.
Children develop balancing skills, for instance, as they use ropes to negotiate climbing equipment. Staff make these activities challenging, for example, by asking children simple questions that encourage them to think, talk and share information. They give children space and time to create their own challenges, for instance, as they play with hoops and old car tyres.
Staff set clear boundaries and support children to behave well, develop social skills and build friendships. They encourage children to take turns and share the resources during all activities. Children play together cooperatively, for instance, when they play with modelling dough and a mud kitchen.
Managers use robust recruitment and induction procedures to ensure that staff are suitable to work with children. Staff fully understand their roles and responsibilities, including supervising children at all times to keep them safe. During each session, there are always staff present who know the children well, which ensures continuity of care.
Staff work well in partnership with parents and teachers in the school to meet the needs of children, including children with SEND. They welcome parents into the club and communicate with them in a polite and friendly manner. There is a closed social media page for parents, which provides them with additional information about the children's activities.
This keeps parents well informed.
