What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements The club has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

At the start of each session, staff talk to the children about the club rules of using 'kind hands' and words. Children are respectful, they are polite and use good manners when talking to each other and staff. They happily work and play together.

Children tell the inspector that should they have any disagreements they can ask the staff to support them in finding a resolution. Younger children are assigned a key person to ensure that their emotional well-being needs are met and help them feel secure in the club environment. Staff encourage children to learn and practise new s...kills.

They adapt activities to ensure that children of different ages and abilities can take part safely. During a yoga activity, staff demonstrate the movements needed. They then move around the group helping children achieve the correct pose.

When poses go wrong they encourage other children in the group to identify what needs to change and work out how to put the pose right. Staff keep children motivated and engaged throughout the activity. They praise children for working together, and for attempting a new task and having the courage to try something new.

Children show pride and gain self-esteem as they learn a new yoga pose.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff show a genuine interest in the children they look after. They invest time in getting to know the interests and hobbies of the children that they care for.

They involve children in making decisions about the activities they would like to take part in while at the club. Children have a sense of belonging at the club, they tell the inspector that they enjoy attending and like the wide variety of sport activities on offer.Staff remind children that they need to wash their hands before eating.

They encourage children to use good table manners. Snack times are sociable occasions, where staff and children talk to each other about their day. Staff encourage conversation about healthy lifestyles.

Children demonstrate that they understand the importance of eating healthy snacks, such as fruits and vegetables, drinking water to stay hydrated and wearing sunscreen and sun hats on hot days Staff support children to develop social skills and their language and communication skills. Children take part in an activity where they have to find out three fun facts about someone in the group that they do not know well. Children are reminded that in order to gain this information they will need to ask each other questions and listen closely to the other person's answers.

Staff support the children to have the confidence to recall the new information they have gained about each other's interests and experiences, and to share this with the whole group.Children enjoy the opportunity to play outside in the fresh air. They confidently use rope swings and balance on climbing equipment.

Staff deploy themselves to ensure that children are well supervised and safe while outside. They help children identify and manage risks. Staff encourage children to think about the possible consequences of getting too close while their friends use the rope swings.

Staff build positive relationships with parents. They keep parents well informed about their child's day and the activities they have taken part in. Parents value the service offered, they are confident that their children are safe and well cared for.

They comment that their children are eager to return to the club year after year.The management team and club staff continually reflect on how the club provision can be improved. For example, through reflection they have started to implement greater opportunities for children to be able to make choices about the activities that they take part in each day.

Robust recruitment procedures are in place to ensure that all staff employed to work with children are suitable to do so. New staff receive a comprehensive induction to ensure that they understand their role and responsibilities. Staff comment that they enjoy working at the club and they feel valued and supported by the management team.

They have regular supervision and receive feedback on their practice.
