What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements The friendly staff team provides children with a very warm welcome to help to support their emotional well-being. Staff organise the smooth transition from the on-site nursery and school very well, to help to ensure all children arrive safely. Staff act as very positive role models.
They are calm in their approach and consistently support children's good behaviour. Children behave well and they are extremely polite to each other, staff and visitors.Staff organise a safe and stimulating environment for all children.
They plan many opportunities and activities where children are actively involved in making decisions. For exa...mple, staff encourage children to choose activities and food for their snack. This supports children's self-esteem.
Overall, staff positively interact with children as they play to help them engage and focus on the opportunities available, although this is not always consistent. Children are motivated, enthusiastic and have lots of fun. For example, children concentrate as they build from construction resources, and they thoroughly enjoy creating models from dough to help to promote their imaginations and creativity.
Staff understand the importance of promoting children's healthy lifestyles. For example, staff create menu plans that are nutritious. They value children's food and cultural preferences, and home experiences when planning children's tea, every day.
Furthermore, staff ensure that all children have plenty of time outdoors so that they have lots of physical exercise.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Leaders are extremely keen to provide a high-quality, inclusive out-of-school club for all children. They consistently seek and value the views of staff, parents and children, when they evaluate the service to ensure they consistently strive for improvement.
For example, leaders are keen to get feedback from parents on the quality of the club during daily conversations and parent questionnaires.Leaders are committed to working in partnership with teachers at the school and nursery, including other external professionals. This helps to keep children safe, promote a positive culture, and a consistent approach.
Staff know that if they have a concern about a child's safety, they will raise their concerns to leaders from the out-of-school club. Including, the school designated safeguarding leads.Key staff are assigned to support the youngest children to help to promote their emotional well-being.
Children are very settled, confident and self-assured. Staff successfully plan experiences to meet their individual needs. The youngest children independently choose activities and keenly engage in play, such as with wooden peg puzzles and small-world dinosaurs.
They thoroughly enjoy the company of the older school-age children, who act as positive role models. They build positive relationships with all staff and demonstrate that they feel safe and emotionally secure.Staff plan a good range of activities for all children to play outdoors so that they have plenty of fresh air.
Children have lots of space to practise their physical skills, which staff organise well in the school play spaces. For example, children keenly play football, confidently climb fixed wooden climbing frames, negotiate uneven surfaces, and eagerly crawl through tunnels. They are very enthusiastic and have lots of fun.
Staff are deployed extremely well so that children are always supervised. For example, staff who hold a current paediatric first-aid certificate are deployed in each area, indoors and outdoors, so that they can quickly respond in an emergency, and to help to maintain children's safety.Overall, staff positively interact with children and join them in their play.
For example, staff help children to make intricate beaded bracelets. Children concentrate for very long periods of time as they thread different shaped beads onto thread. Children are proud of their achievements and keenly ask visitors to join them, to make bracelets.
However, some staff do not always interact and engage consistently with children to help them to fully engage in all activities, and enhance their play experiences further.
