What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children arrive at the club eager and ready to have fun in this happy environment.
They are greeted by name from welcoming staff, who are genuinely interested in the children and their day at school. Younger children are collected from their teachers by staff who are kind and provide the reassurance that children need to settle quickly. Staff take the time to learn about children so that they can provide activities that interest and fully engage them.
Children are friendly and greet visitors politely, engaging them in conversation. Staff work hard to create a feeling of belonging for every child who attends, including chil...dren with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Children behave very well.
Staff consistently model excellent manners and have high expectations of children's good behaviour. Children demonstrate that they feel safe and settled. They seek reassurance from staff who provide consistent, well-understood routines, helping children develop a sense of belonging.
Highly successful relationships with school staff means that there is a fully shared approach to children's development and welfare. Parents comment on how they value the opportunities for their children to mix with those of different age groups. Children always receive the support they need to stay safe as staff are extremely well deployed by the attentive manager.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The owner is very ambitious for the club and the children that attend. He reflects on the provision and is eager for his club to provide excellent opportunities for the children. The owner works diligently with his dedicated manager to evaluate how well the club is meeting the needs of the children who attend.
Staff settle quickly into their roles and work very well as a team. Regular supervision and excellent modelling by the skilful manager ensures that staff are well supported to further develop their skills.Children benefit from lots of opportunities to play in the secure outdoor areas.
Staff provide a range of playground games and balls. Children organise their own games and are keen to show off their skills. Staff notice when children need more support to join in with their play and offer kind and effective encouragement.
Children develop their stamina as they happily play together with their friends and the staff for sustained periods of time.Staff develop excellent social skills. For example, they gather together for a brief registration where everyone is greeted by name.
They sit in groups for a healthy snack and wait patiently for their turn. The owner has recognised that snack time is an area for further development as children are often waiting too long for their food. Having noticed this, he is planning to swiftly rearrange snack routines to further support children's independence and reduce their waiting time.
Relationships with parents and the host school are excellent. With permission from parents, the owner and his manager review every child termly with a senior member of the school's leadership team. This excellent example of working together for the benefit of the children means that children are fully supported to build on their prior experiences.
Parents comment that children who are initially nervous when they start at the club, swiftly grow in confidence. Parents recognise the effort that the staff put in to get to know their children as individuals. All children settle quickly as staff make sure that they provide activities that meet every child's interests and personalities.
Parents value the feedback from the manager as she hands over at the end of the day. They feel valued and included in what their child is doing.Children are superbly supported by the manager who is their key person.
She ensures that she regularly tracks children's progress over their time at the club. There are plenty of opportunities and resources, such as cooperative games and books, that help children to further develop their speaking and listening skills.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
The owner and his manager have created a culture where safeguarding children is at the heart of what they do. They make sure that they are fully up to date with current guidance. Staff have a good knowledge of safeguarding concerns and the actions that they need to take to protect children.
The manager and staff are highly vigilant and there are extremely robust procedures in place for children's safety. Staff work cooperatively with the host school safeguarding leads to develop a shared approach to any developing concerns. Robust recruitment and induction, along with effective supervision, ensures that all staff are suitable to work with children.
