The manager has high expectations and is committed to providing high-quality after school care for children. She works with the provider and staff to make continual improvements and evaluates the environment and the daily routine.

Children are independent in their choices but seek out other children and staff to share their experiences with. Children happily cooperate as they work with friends of different ages. For example, they share and take turns as they prepare their tortilla wrap for snack.

Staff have secure procedures in place to support children with additional needs, such as allergies and/or special dietary requirements. For instance, they liaise with parents and follow healthcare plans.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The manager and staff have a good understanding of their responsibilities to keep children safe. They recognise the signs that may indicate a concern about a child's welfare and know how to alert appropriate professionals outside the club if they suspect a child is at risk of harm. Staff follow clear and effective procedures for registering children at the start of each session.

The manager frequently carries out effective risk assessments. The access to the premises is monitored well. The camera entry system enables staff to recognise a person's identity before they can gain entry.
