What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Staff greet children warmly as they collect them from school. They listen to children, who talk excitedly about their day and show the pictures and models that they have made. Children arrive at the club confident and happy.

They immediately engage in play with children from the other schools and the staff who are waiting for them. Staff are wonderful role models and form strong relationships with children, who clearly feel safe and secure in their care. They interact well with children during their play and provide them with support and encouragement that they need.

Children are resilient and persevere with the tasks that... they set out to complete. They share, take turns and play together well. Children's behaviour is excellent.

The experienced leaders and staff use their knowledge to create a rich and stimulating environment. They provide an inclusive setting which takes account of the individual needs of all the children in their care. Children have access to a wide variety of resources and toys.

They have the freedom to explore and make decisions about their play. This helps to keep children motivated and engrossed in purposeful play. For example, children use their creative skills to make models using recycled boxes and creative crafts.

They enjoy designing and making decorations using beads.

Staff work closely with parents to gather key information about their child's care and learning needs from their starting points. They use this information to plan a welcoming environment and ensure that their care practices take account of children's individual needs.

Staff gather information about the topics children are learning atk school. They work with the children's teachers to identify any individual support that they need. Staff use this information to plan activities to enhance and further support children's learning and development.

Children are keen to build on their learning from school. They enjoy reading their library books and relax in the quiet and comfortable reading area staff create for them. Children have access to a wide selection of books that are appropriate for the different ages of those who attend.

Staff sit with younger children and support them as they read. They encourage children to sound out words phonetically. Staff help children to segment and blend sounds to read unfamiliar words.

This supports children to develop their literacy skills further.Children have a wide variety of opportunities to develop their physical skills. They thoroughly enjoy playing games outdoors in the fresh air and use the bicycles and tricycles provided.

Children enjoy playing table football, table tennis and snooker with their friends indoors.Children are sociable and enjoy activities where they can perform to their friends. They participate in show and tell to practise magic tricks and sing songs that they will be performing in school competitions.

Children are incredibly kind and respectful. They sit quietly and listen to their friends as they perform. Children applaud and cheer for their friends when they have finished.

They demonstrate very high levels of confidence and self-esteem.Children's independence is fully fostered. They enjoy the responsibilities of setting up for snack time.

They follow good hygiene routines and know to wash their hands before they eat. Children choose from a range of healthy foods to make their own wraps. They learn about the importance of eating well-balanced and nutritious meals.

Children have access to fresh drinking water and pour their own drinks throughout the session.Leaders closely monitor what is happening at the club. Parents and children are given the opportunity to provide feedback through questionnaires and verbal discussions.

They observe staff interactions with children and hold regular meetings to discuss any improvements. Staff have regular supervision sessions and receive ongoing support, coaching and training.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

Leaders and staff have a secure understanding of safeguarding and how to keep children safe. They complete thorough daily checks to ensure all areas of the premises children access are safe and suitable. Staff complete regular child protection training to help keep their knowledge up to date and current.

They confidently recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse. Staff understand the necessary procedures to follow should they have a concern about a child's welfare. Leaders have implemented effective recruitment procedures to help ensure the suitability of any adults working with children.
