This provision meets requirements Children are enthusiastic when arriving at the club. They know the routine to follow and show that they are settled, confident and happy to be there.
Children excitedly join in with the challenging and interesting play experiences that staff plan for them. For example, they enjoy talking about upcoming Halloween events. They complete arts and crafts with associated themes and discuss their planned costumes.
Additionally, children are eager to join in with various outdoor pursuits. For example, they play team games and enjoy the large-scale adventure playground equipment. Staff encourage children to use positive manners and... children behave well.
Children take pride in the resources provided. They look after the setting, showing respect and courtesy for their environment. Children enjoy healthy snacks and take part in various physical activities.
Staff help children to consider a healthy and active lifestyle. Children are encouraged to be confident to communicate their thoughts and ideas. For instance, staff support children to speak about their day at school or about something of importance to them with their friends.
Children speak fluently and show each other respect by listening to one another and paying attention to what is being said.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
All staff establish secure relationships with children, built on mutual trust and respect. Staff get to know their likes and dislikes, which helps them to plan activities that they know will continue to engage children in their play.
The strong bonds between staff and children allow children to feel a sense of belonging and build positive levels of self-esteem. Children enjoy the company of the staff. For example, they show excitement for staff to join in with their game of 'four-square'.
The leaders and staff effectively evaluate their practice together by reflecting on how well they feel children enjoyed their experiences at the club. They have also consulted with the on-site school staff, and have provided children with a 'voice' to share their preferences for the after-school provision. The manager and staff use their findings to support their future practice.
For example, they plan activities that they know will enhance children's enjoyment and keep them engaged for long periods of time.The provider shares helpful feedback with staff to support their future performance. They attend regular training that helps to build on their knowledge and understanding of the role, including implementing strong safeguarding procedures.
Most staff are working towards furthering their development within sports teaching and coaching.
