What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children thrive in this exceptionally welcoming environment.

They rush out of school and nursery; so excited to be going to the club. Staff greet children with warm and friendly smiles. Children happily chatter about their day as they make their way into the club.

When children who attend from different schools arrive at the club, they are welcomed into play that is already taking place. This enables children to build friendships with a wide range of children and extend their circle of friends. Staff are exceptionally skilled at enabling children to develop a have-a-go attitude.

For example, staff show younger chi...ldren how to hold a bat and hit a ball. As children try this for themselves, staff celebrate with claps and cheers as children hit the ball. Should children miss the ball, staff encourage them sensitively to have another go.

This helps children to develop an attitude of persevering and endeavouring until they achieve their goal.Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour, which is exemplary across all ages of children. Children know the routines of the club and automatically hang up their coats and bags on entering.

They repeatedly say 'please' and 'thank you' and know to wait their turn. Children show respect for their environment, such as they willingly tidy away their plates and beakers after snack.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children are very confident speakers, happily engaging visitors in long and well-articulated conversations.

These conversations naturally evolve into longer discussions as more children join in. This helps to extend children's vocabulary, and support them to listen and respect the opinions of others.Children are at the heart of everything staff do.

Staff take notice of what children are doing and take every opportunity to celebrate and praise children's achievements. For example, when children describe their pictures they are creating, staff praise children's attention to detail and the individuality of their finished pieces.Staff have excellent relationships with the various schools that children attend.

This helps to ensure that children's care is tailored to their individual needs. It also helps staff to further develop children's skills and abilities at the club.Older children show patience and consideration for younger children as they play together.

For example, when making a den, older children follow the instructions they receive. This gives younger children the confidence to extend their thinking skills as they recognise their ideas are valued.Staff are very mindful of supporting children's self-care skills and understanding of how to keep themselves healthy.

Children independently wash their hands, in preparation for their snack. Staff encourage children to pour their own drinks and serve their own food.Supporting children's physical development is a key feature of the club.

Children independently access the secure outdoor environment, where they have many opportunities to develop their physical skills. Children run and climb across the various levels and surfaces, play a variety of ball games and skilfully manoeuvre themselves around objects and people.Staff use regular discussions and professional development opportunities to improve their practice and keep their knowledge up to date.

All staff attend paediatric first-aid and safeguarding training. This helps to keep children safe and enable children to feel secure in the club.Parents and carers are exceptionally appreciative about the service the club provides.

They say that the flexibility of times their children can attend is key to enabling parents to continue working. Staff ensure that children's dietary requirements are met at all times. Parents say this gives them the assurance that their children's well-being is at the forefront of everything staff do.

Staff's well-being is a high priority. Staff are proud to belong to this vibrant club. They work together as a tight-knit team, where everyone looks after each other.

Strong teamwork and shared high aspirations for children are central to everything staff do.
