What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive eagerly and confidently find their lockers for their bags. They excitedly enter their crew rooms and find their friends, starting their play straight away. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported exceptionally well.

Staff take time to read their files and use this information to ensure children's individual needs are met. Children are able to communicate with staff using sign language. This helps children to express their needs and to be listened to.

Children squeal with delight using the adventure playground. Staff play games such as 'the floor is lava', where children lea...rn to listen for instructions. Children also develop key physical skills as they master the climbing walls up to the climbing frame.

Children take great pride in their art creations they have made using play dough. Staff encourage children to talk about what they have made, helping to build their confidence speaking in front of others.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Leaders have a clear understanding of the needs of children that attend.

They work closely with head office to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about the children enabling staff to meet their individual needs.Leaders carry out inductions for all staff before camp starts. All agency staff have their inductions when they start.

Staff's ongoing suitability is checked and reviewed during these sessions. This enables leaders to make sure all staff are suitable to work with children.Behaviour management is a key strength.

Staff make excellent use of house colour points, which are rewarded for kind behaviour, helping others and respecting their peers, among others. This helps to teach children the impact of their own behaviour on others. Children behave exceptionally well.

All early years children have their own early years staff throughout their time at the camp. Staff get to the know the children through 'All about me' forms and they sit down with them when they first start. This allows them to be are aware of children's likes and dislikes.

This helps staff plan activities that children enjoy and benefit from.Children are taught the impact of physical exercise on their bodies. Children learn the importance of warming up and down and why they need to do this.

This helps children to understand the benefits of exercise on their bodies.Leaders gather the views of both children and parents to shape the service they provide. They review activities with staff, so they can see what went well and what they need to adapt to ensure children enjoy their time at camp.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff have a clear understanding of signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect. All staff including agency are given safeguarding lanyards to wear, which gives them the protocols to follow if they have concerns.

Leaders are fully aware of their roles to keep children and staff save. They are aware of signs of contextual safeguarding and alert to cost of living crises and how to support families and staff. They ensure all staff are up to date with training and head office adapt training needs per camp, so it is relevant for all staff.
