What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is good

Children are safe and secure in this nursery. Staff provide an environment tailored to the children's interests. Older children excitedly explore the home corner.

They make 'tea' for their friends. They observe what happens when they mix tea leaves with water. They discuss that tea is hot and how they must be careful.

Babies and toddlers happily explore their environment alongside their friends. They develop their physical skills as the climb the steps and the slope. Toddlers beam with happiness as they receive high levels of praise for using their newly learned walking skills.

Older children learn to take saf...e risks when they climb large equipment in the garden. Staff are close by to support them and discuss the importance of being safe while climbing.Children are very well behaved.

Young children in the garden call their friends to join them in the sandpit. Older children work together to make 'cakes' with the play dough. They share ideas and resources.

They confidently ask staff for the beads to use as 'sprinkles'. Toddlers cuddle their friends when they see they are sad. All children in the nursery show high levels of respect for their friends.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The management team has a strong vision for the nursery. The team works hard to provide a safe, secure and exciting learning environment for the children. Staff's well-being is a high priority.

Many senior members of the team have attended training to ensure this is well supported. As a result, staff are enthusiastic and passionate about their role and provide a high-quality learning environment for all children.There is a good key-person system.

Each child's key person knows their families and children very well. They tailor children's next steps for learning to the children's interests and their developmental level. This is done by assessing what children already know through play, interactions and discussions with parents.

Most children make good progress from their starting points.There is a good partnership with parents. Parents speak highly of the nursery and how happy their children are to attend.

They praise the 'incredible' support they receive from the staff team for the whole family. Parents, on many occasions, have recommended the nursery to other families.Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are generally well supported.

Staff work closely with parents and outside agencies to get them the individualised support they require. However, on occasion, staff lack the confidence to implement strategies consistently to provide children with SEND with the support they need to make continuous progress.Staff foster children's love of books.

Toddlers engage intently as they are read a story about animals. They anticipate the animal sounds and copy them after they hear them. Staff use props alongside the story and ask the children to find the animal that matches the sound.

Children enjoy being read to and begin to learn the value of books.Staff skilfully weave new vocabulary into children's play. Older children excitedly build a house with the large foam bricks, using their 'blueprints' to help them.

Staff ask if their wall is 'horizontal' or 'vertical' and how many bricks they have. Children count their bricks. Staff extend the play and begin a discussion about the importance of wearing safety hats when building and what materials would be best to build a real house with.

Children are excited and eager to learn new information.Staff help young children to talk about their own experiences. Young children at the lunch table discuss the food they are eating.

Staff ask children about their favourite foods. The children say that they like carrots as they are 'crunchy'. They go on to talk about why they do and do not like certain foods.

Children are confident to recall and talk about their personal experiences.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders and staff have a very good knowledge of safeguarding and the procedures to follow should they need to report a concern.

They have a clear awareness of the signs and symptoms that may be indicators that a child is at risk. Staff know who to contact if concerns are not dealt with correctly within the nursery. They know the procedures to follow should they have a concern regarding a member of staff.

Leaders keep clear and concise safeguarding records. They have a rigorous recruitment process and monitor ongoing suitability to help ensure all staff are safe to work with children.

What does the setting need to do to improve?

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: support staff in building their confidence to use what they know about children with SEND to successfully implement strategies and provide children with the support they need to make continuous progress.
