What is it like to attend this early years setting?
The provision is outstanding
Children arrive at this nursery motivated and eager to learn. They are familiar with the nursery's routines. For instance, they wash their hands on entry and complete self-registration by finding their own name on a board.
Babies beam with delight as they see familiar staff members. Older children are eager to start to play with their peers. Staff recognise the importance of children leading their own play and leave time for children to be able to socialise and play with each other without the support of an adult.
This contributes to children feeling extremely confident in the nursery and able to express themsel...ves. Staff deliver a highly ambitious curriculum and are very passionate about their role as early years educators. As a result, children of all ages are presented with challenge, which ensures they all make exceptional progress.
Children are taught to socialise well with others before the transition to school. Staff promote positive behaviour from a young age, and behaviour in the nursery is exemplary. They model cooperative play with babies as they explore the texture of sand on their toes.
Older children play in smaller groups, working out whose turn is next during games. Staff act as positive role models and ensure they always lead by example.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The nursery's curriculum is highly efficient and effective in helping children to make the best possible progress.
Staff are highly skilled at differentiating activities and providing challenge to children of all ages. They know what they intend for children to learn; consequently, children are ready for the next stage in their learning and for their transition to school. As a result, children thrive and are motivated to learn.
Communication and language is taught exceptionally well. Staff have completed thorough training on how to best support those who are acquiring language and introduce new vocabulary to more confident speakers. They are quick to identify gaps in language development and act on this to ensure all children make rapid progress.
Children who speak English as an additional language are superbly supported through visual timetables and a dedicated library of books, which families can take home.Staff teach children about mathematical concepts and build on language using rhymes. In the baby room, staff model words clearly as they play, in order to teach new language.
They recap and review language effectively and help children make connections as they learn. Staff teach in a skilful way, using what they know about children to provide challenge to the different age groups. For example, younger children count stones in sequence in the garden, whereas older children use large-muscle movements to recreate the numerals using chalks.
Children are deeply engaged in their chosen activities and sustain high levels of concentration. They continuously make links in their learning, and staff help them to build on what they already know. For example, children in the garden bang on different pots and pans with metal spoons to make sounds.
Staff teach them how to tap the syllables of their friends' names as they do it. Children then continue to do this independently as they practise what they have learned, segmenting words and using a beat.Partnerships with parents and families are highly robust and successful.
Staff share daily information with parents about their children's time at the nursery. They provide activity bags with resources so that parents can extend children's learning at home. Parents express their gratitude to the nursery staff through written feedback, which is shared with them.
Parents commend the nursery on their effective communication and the 'rapid progress' their children are making. The management team demonstrates an outstanding level of dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge. They are inspirational for staff, who reflect these same attributes, along with a pure enjoyment of the work that they do.
Staff comment about how they are a family and feel well supported in their roles. Superb partnerships exist with other professionals and schools. This contributes to children having the best possible start in their early years.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff have excellent knowledge of their role in protecting children from harm. Leaders have ensured that staff have sufficient training and continuously confirm their knowledge through questioning and during regular meetings.
Staff understand the local procedures in place to enable them to report any concerns and confidently discuss the whistle-blowing procedure. Staff teach children to keep themselves safe and risk assess during play as they climb on large equipment in the garden. Children and families are taught about the importance of keeping themselves safe online, and staff use resources to support them with this.
