What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children are happy to attend this vibrant club. There are lively discussions and much laughter as children play alongside their friends. Staff welcome the children in a warm and friendly manner, giving them time to settle and put their belongings away before they all sit together for 'the fact of the day'.
Staff also take this opportunity to give children any messages and tell them what exciting activities they have on offer for the day. All children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), can participate in many activities. For example, children choose to participate in cooking activities, si...t quietly and colour, play with construction bricks, or do homework on the computer.
For the more energetic, children can go outdoors and run around. They play football or play with hoops and pom-poms. Whatever children choose, staff join in with the activities and enhance the children's enjoyment.
Children's behaviour is excellent. They are kind and considerate to each other and have exemplary manners. Where necessary, older children help the younger ones.
For example, they help them to hang up their coats or show them where to sit and eat. This supports the younger children to settle quickly. Staff are good role models for children, and they show the children respect.
There are a range of positive rewards to encourage and support children's good behaviour. For example, there is a bingo board, where children's names enter a draw for a prize if they show an act of kindness or support to their peers.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The manager is passionate about the care and support she gives children and their families.
This passes down to the staff and it is evident they enjoy their role. Many staff have been with the provider for a number of years and they say how they feel valued and supported in their role. Staff supervision is ongoing.
Regular meetings ensure staff all have a valued input into the running of the club and organising the children's activities. Staff all have access to online professional development opportunities, and they access updates regularly to ensure their knowledge is current and supports the children's learning and safety.Staff help to develop children's self-esteem and independence.
They support younger children with a key person. This ensures the children have a familiar face and know where to go if they need anything. They soon settle and join in activities with the other children.
Older children can become a member of the 'kids crew'. They get a special jacket to wear, and are someone the younger children can go to for additional support. This provides younger children with a buddy, and older children take responsibility and help others.
Staff support children's health and well-being in a variety of ways. For example, they give children an option of a healthy snack on arrival from their classroom, or a snack from home. Staff understand children's individual needs, such as allergies, and manage these safely.
Children have access to water during the session, ensuring they keep hydrated. Staff talk to children about healthy lifestyles and making good choices.Strong relationships with the school ensure children have a smooth transition into the club.
The provider meets prospective parents when they first attend the school. They arrange visits and taster sessions for the children. Staff liaise with teachers each day to gain important information about the child's day.
Staff provide teachers with a message book, and this allows messages to get to parents or vice versa. This is especially important for full-time children, whose parents may not see teachers on a day-to-day basis.Staff are clear about their roles within the session, which ensures the session flows effectively.
Staff supervise the children well, and they skilfully differentiate activities for younger children and children with SEND. This ensures all children can join in and enjoy the social friendships of their peers. Parents value that different age groups mix.
They state that they feel all the children benefit from this.Parents say how much they value the club and how much their children enjoy attending. They find the staff friendly and supportive of the children and families.
Parents comment on the good communication links and feel that the setting ensures everyone is informed about anything that has an impact on their child's day.

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts the children's interests first.
