What is it like to attend this early years setting?
The provision is outstanding
Children flourish in this stimulating environment. They are extremely happy and secure. The setting follows a regular routine and staff use a visual timeline to help children understand what will happen next.
Children are highly independent and resilient. For instance, when attempting to wash paint from their hands, they refuse help from staff, preferring to try this for themselves. Children recognise the impact their behaviour has on others.
For example, when staff asked children what they would do if they saw a friend sitting on their own, children said they would go and play with them. Children have extremely... close bonds with staff. They call them to join in with their play and excitedly share their discoveries.
Children make rapid progress across all areas of learning. Staff have high expectations of children's progress and display a genuine delight in children's achievements. Children use numbers very confidently in practical situations.
For example, they counted how many spaces were left on their bingo boards and discussed who had the most. Children are highly interested in the natural world. They explore the nature area in the garden with great enthusiasm.
Children manoeuvre wheeled toys with increasing skill. They show great perseverance as they attempt to peddle trikes up the slight slope in the garden.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The provider has put considerable thought into the organisation of the premises, to ensure children's needs are met fully at all times.
There is an abundance of high-quality equipment, attractively presented to inspire children's learning.Children are exceptionally well behaved. Staff have high expectations of children's behaviour.
Children are reminded daily of the pre-school's rules about being kind. They are very considerate towards each other. For example, they help each other to fasten the backs of their painting aprons.
The leadership and management of the pre-school are inspirational. Leaders' enthusiasm and commitment are shared by the highly dedicated staff team. Managers recognise staff's strengths and consistently praise them for their hard work.
Staff say that they feel well supported and valued.Children talk very confidently during group activities. Staff are highly skilled at supporting children's communication.
For example, when it started to snow, staff helped children to take turns in conversation and listen to one another as they talked excitedly about going outside. Staff introduce new vocabulary as children play, and children learn quickly to use this in the correct context.Children have a real love of learning.
They display intense concentration and engagement as they participate in a rich variety of activities. Staff share the provider's vision of a highly ambitious curriculum. Their interactions with children are of a consistently high quality.
They are skilful at building upon what children already know to help them make the best possible progress.Staff foster a highly welcoming family atmosphere. They work extremely closely with parents to help children settle very quickly.
Parents are welcomed into the pre-school to attend workshops and to help children to learn about festivals such as Chinese New Year, Eid and American Independence Day. Parents express high levels of satisfaction with the pre-school. They say that staff are friendly and approachable.
A number of staff have worked for the provider for many years, which provides consistency and continuity for the families using the setting.Staff provide exceptional support for children's literacy skills. An extensive variety of high-quality books is provided throughout the setting for children to choose from.
Children enjoy sharing their favourite books with staff. They are well motivated to learn about phonics. For example, after participating in a phonics session, children returned to the book area to look independently at the phonics book and repeat the letter sounds.
Staff work rapidly to assess children who may have special educational needs and/or disabilities. They work very closely in partnership with parents to secure support and additional funding for children, so that they achieve the best possible outcomes.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
Children's safety and well-being are the highest priority at this setting. Staff take all necessary precautions to keep children safe. They have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and receive regular training to enable them to identify when a child may be at risk.
Staff have completed training on the 'Prevent' duty and are aware of their responsibilities. Leaders and managers provide very clear guidance for staff regarding the action they must take should they be concerned about a child's welfare. Robust recruitment procedures are followed to ensure those working with children are suitable for their roles.
