This provision meets requirements Staff warmly greet the children on arrival. Children demonstrate that they enjoy coming to this welcoming and friendly club. They settle quickly and are eager to start playing with their friends or talk to staff about their day.
Children enjoy taking part in a variety of activities. Staff support children's communication and language well. They take the time to listen to what children have to say and tailor activities and resources to their individual interests.
All children demonstrate excellent social skills, and younger children benefit from time spent with the older children from their school. Children are kind and car...ing towards each other. For instance, younger children are included by the older children as they hunt for numbers outdoors in a fun Easter hunt activity.
Children make good use of art and craft activities. They show high levels of concentration as they colour, cut and stick to create Easter egg wreaths. Staff are on hand and help develop children's independence and creativity.
Staff provide children with plenty of opportunities to be physically active and children enjoy playing in the outdoor area of the school. Children are very confident in social situations and have strong communication skills. For instance, they happily welcome visitors and chat about what they enjoy doing at the club.
Staff are good role models. They encourage children to be respectful and considerate of others. Children behave extremely well and play cooperatively together.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The provider, who is also the manager, has a clear vision for the club. All staff are enthusiastic, motivated and reflect regularly on practice. They adapt the organisation of the club to help meet children's needs.
For example, they seek the views of children and parents when sourcing new equipment or planning activities. This helps ensure improvements in the quality of the service they provide.Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure.
They listen to staff and understand the rules of the club. For example, children are encouraged to walk inside and understand why rules are in place. Older children are helpful and enjoy the responsibility of helping to set up an activity, tidy away or lay the table for breakfast club the following morning.
The key-person arrangements are effective for all early years children. Staff are deployed well and supervise the children vigilantly across the areas. Staff are sensitive to the children's feelings and have developed a warm bond with them.
