What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children enter the club happily and feel welcomed as they know where to put their things, and chat to staff who show interest in their day. Children settle quickly to free play. They access the home area, craft and colouring activities, and play a range of board games.
Staff members chat with children as the colour in pictures. They ask about their day and children respond positively to the interest in their lives. Children enjoy healthy snacks.
Staff remind them to say please and thank you as they receive their food and behave with respect towards staff and each other. Staff plan a broad range of activities and experience...s that link children's interests and run a programme that meets children's needs. Children are safely collected from their classrooms, and settle quickly to an activity of their choice.
There are good lines of communication between the club and school to ensure that staff understand how to meet children's needs. For example, these include close communication about any medical or care needs. Staff are able to make sure they have any necessary equipment, or make adjustments.
This care and attention towards children's needs means that they are safe happy and secure at the club.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The leaders of the club have secure oversight of the quality of provision offered. They know the needs of the staff team well and offer support for staff to complete qualifications that will increase their skills.
Staff report that they enjoy working at the club, and this helps them to be enthusiastic with the children. Staff have all undergone suitable checks and have an appropriate range of training to underpin their knowledge and skills for their role.Behavioural incidents are managed consistently well.
Children can see the club rules displayed for them, and generally follow these. Any incidents are managed with minimal fuss as staff help children remember to share and to work cooperatively with their friends. Children are given responsibilities and rise to the occasion, for example taking the role of kitchen helper to take part in getting the snack ready.
Children line up and wait their turn for snack. They cooperate well with staff and each other. Other children are chosen to hold up a sign to say 'start' so that they can start eating, and 'line up' to get ready to go outside.
Children respond quickly to these as they know what to do.Staff supervise children well to promote their safety. They carefully escort children to the toilets, while providing respectful distance to respect their privacy.
However, they remain on hand to support any children who may need extra help.Parents report that they are happy with the care that their children receive at the club. They always feel that their children have had interesting things to do, and that they always seem happy when they collect them.
They appreciate the communication that they get from staff at the club, especially as some of them may not be able to speak directly to class teachers very often.Staff spend much of their time engaging with the children, helping them complete activities, and talking to them about their day and things that interest them. This helps all children feel safe and happy.
Children have lots of opportunities to play outside where they take part in imaginative games and sports, such as football. Other children play with small-world play resources. They set up horses, dinosaurs and superheroes in a model treehouse.
They show good respect for each other's interests as all their chosen characters live harmoniously together in the same space.
