Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The executive headteacher and the acting head of school demonstrate strong leadership and share a commitment to raise standards further. Senior leaders are effective at monitoring pupil outcomes to ensure that most pupils make good progress.

Leaders are aware that most-able pupils require greater challenge in key stage 2. School leaders develop links with outstanding providers to support the development of middle leaders. This adds capacity to the leadership team.

Teaching is mainly good, with small variabilities that are addressed through professional development training and mentoring from senior leaders. Equality and inclusion are at t...he heart of the learning process for all pupils. Safeguarding is effective and pupils are safe and well cared for.

Pupils who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities make good progress from their starting points. Disadvantaged pupils make good progress and the additional funding the school receives for their support is spent wisely. Clear progression is seen in pupil outcomes for reading, writing and mathematics.

Sustained improvements are being made in each year group and this is tracked carefully though the school's assessment information. Outcomes at the end of the Reception Year are above the national average for most children; however, the most-able children in Reception are not attaining higher outcomes in line with the national average. The teaching of phonics is good, and the results in the Year 1 phonics screening check are broadly in line with the national average.

Pupils enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum and are able to apply and rehearse skills across a wide range of subjects. The pastoral care offered to pupils and the range of therapeutic support in place for pupil well-being is outstanding. Pupils conduct themselves with sensitivity for and an awareness of the needs of others.

Behaviour for learning is strong, and pupils demonstrate impeccable conduct around the school. In a small number of classrooms in key stage 2 there is variability in the quality of teaching.
