Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Staff promote pupils' personal development exceptionally well. The broad curriculum, together with trips, visitors, clubs and school events, ensures that pupils develop into well- rounded individuals who are very well prepared for future learning.

Leaders, governors and all staff are ambitious for pupils. They work together very effectively and are eager to ensure that the school continues to improve Leaders are outward-looking and seek out best practice locally and beyond. They draw on this practice to improve the school further.

Children get off to flying start in the early years. They quickly learn what is expected in terms of behaviou...r. They develop strong basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics and consequently are well prepared for Year 1.

Teaching is effective. The most skilled teachers willingly share their skills to support others in developing their practice further. Changes to the teaching of mathematics and to the mathematics curriculum are new.

Teachers are yet to embed these changes so that pupils make consistently strong progress in all areas of mathematics. Progress across some subjects, such as history, geography and science, is not as strong in some year groups as in others. Some teachers' expectations of pupils' work in these subjects is not as high as in English and mathematics.

In some classes, time for learning is not maximised. Here, pupils do not make as much progress in their learning as they are capable of making.
