Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The school has improved since its previous inspection. The restructured leadership team is driving the improvement with determination and vigour. Levels of accountability have been raised in all aspects of the school's work.

Staff have responded to them well. They understand that by doing so, pupils make better progress. Disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported to help them catch up with their peers.

The most able pupils, including the few disadvantaged most able pupils, also receive additional support to help them achieve well. The quality of teaching has improved. It is now... good.

Leaders ensure that teachers receive good-quality training, that they learn from each other and that they put into practice what they learn. Governors know the school well. They are helping it to move forward by providing good levels of support while challenging it robustly to improve further.

They have made good use of an external review to improve their own performance. Pupils behave well and they are enthusiastic learners. They want to succeed.

They respect each other and have a good understanding of British values. Pupils know how to stay safe in different situations. They feel very safe and secure in school because they know that members of staff care for them and will keep them safe.

Children settle quickly into the early years. Staff ensure that they are well cared for and their learning needs are met. They make good progress in their Reception Year.

Attainment in reading is lower than in writing or mathematics. Pupils' ability to glean information rapidly from different texts is underdeveloped. Guided reading sessions do not provide them with enough help in this area.

In the Reception class, the outdoor area is not used well for learning.
