This is an outstanding school Leaders set very high expectations for pupils and staff.

They lead by example. Staff at St Gregory's are totally committed to promoting the very best outcomes and care for all their pupils. Pupils make excellent progress and their behaviour is outstanding.

Every member of the school community is proud to be a part of this school. Teachers constantly reflect on their practice and its impact on pupils' learning. This contributes to high-quality teaching across all subjects and through the whole school.

The curriculum is developed very effectively to meet pupils' needs. The exceptional GCSE results are the outcome of a wide ...curriculum, highly effective teaching and careful attention to pupils' progress. The leadership of the school's provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is exemplary.

Pupils with SEND make progress which is well above average. Pupils' personal development and welfare are supported exceptionally well. There is a very strong ethos of care, which pupils really appreciate.

Parents and carers say that their children are very well cared for in school. However, pupils have indicated that they would like more careers advice in Years 7 and 8. Leadership of the sixth form is highly effective.

The excellent quality of teaching enables students to make outstanding progress. Students are given immense support to reach their full potential. Students are taught about the dangers of radicalisation, but their understanding of the nature and risks of extremism is not as wide as it could be.

Governance is a strength of the school's leadership. Members of the governing body provide support and challenge and are highly effective.

The school became an academy on 17 January 2016.

St Gregory's is part of a multi-academy trust, the All Saints Trust. The trust delegates all responsibilities and decisions to the school's governing body. The school does not use any alternative provision.

St Gregory's is a Catholic school. The last section 48 inspection took place in October 2014. A section 48 inspection is scheduled for the autumn term 2019.
