Illtyd's Catholic High School is an English-medium 11-16 school in the east of Cardiff. There are currently 872 pupils on roll compared with 849 at the time of the last inspection in 2012. The school receives pupils from local Catholic primary schools and from other primary schools across the east of the city.

Around 28.0% of the pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is well above the national average of 16.4%.

Over 67% of pupils live in the 20% most deprived areas in Wales. The school welcomes pupils of all faiths and those with no faith background. The school population is ethnically diverse.
