Information about this school
The school is much larger than the average-sized primary school.
The school meets the government's current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils' attainment and progress. The proportion of pupils who are eligible for the additional government funding known as the pupil premium, including those receiving free school meals, is lower than the national average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action, school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is above average.
Some of these pupils have speech, language and communication needs, while others have moderate or specific learning difficulties. A small number of pupils have behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. Most pupils are of White British heritage.
Other pupils come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are taught in three Reception classes. The school does not operate any alternative provision for any pupils.
The number of pupils joining or leaving the school other than at the usual times is lower than in most other schools. The school was formed through the merger of a local infant school and junior school in September 2009. The headteacher was previously the headteacher of the junior school involved.
