Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Senior leaders and governors work well together to promote the school's values across all aspects of the school's work. As a result, pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a strength of the school.

A priority of all staff is that of keeping children safe, with pupils' welfare and well-being at the centre of their work. Almost all parents and carers say that their children feel safe and are happy at school. Pupils enjoy learning and behave well.

The headteacher and deputy headteachers provide strong leadership. All staff, including newly qualified teachers, speak highly of the support they receive. Leaders have high e...xpectations and demonstrate a commitment to providing the best start for pupils in all aspects of school life.

Senior leaders, including the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo), have a detailed understanding of pupils' individual needs. However, this information is not always used to full effect by middle leaders. Children in the early years make good progress due to effective leadership and the quality provision.

Attainment in key stages 1 and 2 improved in 2018 to above the national average in all subjects. Pupils make good progress in a range of subjects, particularly at the end of key stages, but this is not yet consistent across the school. This is because the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inconsistent.

New approaches to the teaching of mathematics are improving standards. However, pupils' understanding and use of reasoning skills are underdeveloped in some classes. Pupils' attendance has risen to be in line with the national average.

However, the proportion of pupils who are persistently absent remains too high.

This school has grown considerably since its last inspection and now has two forms of entry across the school. The school is larger than the average-sized primary school and there are two full classes in every year group.

The school is a collaboration between the Church of England and Methodist Church foundations to provide a Christian education. Most pupils are White British. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is below average.

The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is average. The proportion of pupils with SEND is below average. Many children join the school having attended the nursery provision housed on the school site.

This is a private nursery that is registered and inspected separately. The headteacher was appointed in April 2017, having previously been the deputy headteacher. The school runs a breakfast club and hosts a privately run after-school club.
