Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Leaders in this new school are sharply focused on success for every pupil.

The executive headteacher is diligent in her efforts to ensure that all pupils are safe and doing well. As a result, the school is improving. Teachers have high expectations for all pupils.

Good subject knowledge and careful planning ensure that pupils make good progress in reading, writing and mathematics. Disadvantaged pupils, and those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported. Consequently, they achieve well.

Pupils are well cared for and feel safe at school. Parents are confident that their children are well looked afte...r. Staff are thoroughly trained and know what to do if they are worried about a pupil.

Pupils, particularly the most able, do not always get the challenge they need to make rapid progress and reach the higher levels of achievement. This is because teachers do not consistently use information about what pupils already know, understand and can do to plan learning. Provision in the early years is outstanding.

Children make very good progress in all areas of learning. They have the skills and confidence they need to tackle challenging activities. The proportion who attain a good level of development is consistently above national averages and improving.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good. Pupils are polite and well behaved. They work hard in lessons and have positive attitudes to learning.

Pupils enjoy school and value the wide range of activities on offer. The curriculum is broad and balanced and enhanced by an appropriate range of extra-curricular activities. Teachers do not always deploy teaching assistants well.

As a result, the support they provide is inconsistent.
