This is a good school The headteacher, ably supported by the deputy headteacher, leads the school well. His strong vision and determination are driving further improvements. The curriculum is broad, balanced and very interesting.
Pupils benefit from a rich programme of extra-curricular clubs, outdoor activities and visits. Music is a strength of the school and pupils achieve very well in this subject. Behaviour is outstanding.
Relationships are highly positive and pupils are very respectful of each other and adults in school. Pupils are enthusiastic and enjoy school. The multi-academy trust supports the school well.
Expertise from across the trust ena...bles staff to develop their skills and knowledge well. The school's work to keep pupils safe is effective. Pupils say that they feel safe and enjoy coming to school.
The school works very effectively with parents and there is a strong sense of community. Parents wholeheartedly support the work of the school and their children's learning. The vast majority of pupils make good progress in English and mathematics.
Attainment is well above the national average in these subjects. However, pupils' learning in some other subjects is not of the same high quality. Children in the early years get off to a positive, happy start to school.
However, some tasks and adults' questioning do not enable children to extend their learning sufficiently. Teaching is good. However, in some classes teachers do not challenge or probe pupils' understanding enough.
Their expectations are not consistently high enough, especially for the most able pupils. Leaders' evaluations of the quality of teaching are, at times, over-generous. Many subject leaders and some middle leaders are new to their roles, and are developing their skills.
They do not yet play a full role in driving improvement. Disadvantaged pupils make similar progress to other pupils. However, these pupils do not attain as well as their peers.

There are two classes in each year group. The early years consists of two classes in Reception. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is below the national average.
The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is below the national average. Most pupils are of White British heritage. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is below the national average.
The headteacher was appointed to the school in September 2016. There is a breakfast club and an after-school club. These are run by a private company which has separate Ofsted registration.
The school met the government floor standards in 2016, which are the minimum expectations for standards and progress for pupils in Year 6. Whyteleafe is one of 26 schools in the GLF multi-academy trust. The school joined the trust in December 2014.
