This is a good school Woodheys School provides an oasis of calm tranquillity for parents, staff and pupils. They are all extremely proud of their school. Parents say that the school wholeheartedly celebrates the diversity of the community.
Inclusion, British values, social, spiritual and moral messages are interwoven into the curriculum so that pupils celebrate difference. Outcomes for pupils at all key stages are good and in some cases outstanding. Pupils develop into articulate thoughtful learners.
The headteacher, senior leaders and governors are resolute in their determination for every child to succeed. Their vision and actions have been key to ensuring t...hat outcomes for all pupils improve year on year. Teachers and teaching support assistants work harmoniously to ensure that all pupils work hard and enjoy learning.
Staff use questions skilfully to deepen pupils' knowledge but most-able pupils need further challenge in some classes. Pupils' behaviour is outstanding. Pupils behave exceptionally well in lessons and during social times.
They have high aspirations and take advantage of the many diverse activities on offer. There is a strong safeguarding culture across the school. Pupils feel safe and well cared for.
Governance is strong. Governors challenge leaders to reflect on and refine their actions. They are immensely proud of the school and of the pupils and carry out their responsibilities diligently.
Some subject leaders do not measure the progress pupils make in their subjects. Pupils, including children in the early years, are not given opportunities to further improve their writing and mathematical skills across the wider curriculum. Assessment of children's ability as they enter Reception is not yet fully accurate.
Outcomes are not equally good in both Reception classes. Most-able children in early years do not yet make the rapid progress of which they are capable.

Woodheys Primary School is a larger than average-sized primary school. The school has a lower than average proportion of disadvantaged pupils in each year group. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is below average, as is the proportion of pupils with an education, health and care plan, although this is rising.
The early years provision comprises one Nursery class and two Reception classes. The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds is lower than average, as is the proportion who speak English as an additional language. The school exceeds the government's current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for the attainment and progress of pupils in English and mathematics by the end of Year 6.
