What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children show they are excited and happy to come to the club as they greet staff with huge smiles and waves. Staff collect children from classrooms and liaise with teachers to gain any relevant information about how children have been during the day. This helps staff to be able to fully support children in feeling happy and emotionally secure at the club.

The club is well organised. Children have a range of activities to enjoy, some of which include painting firework pictures, manipulating play dough and playing board games. There is a small, cushioned area for children to enjoy books or just relax and talk with their friends.

Children understand staff expectations and follow the daily routines of the club. For example, they organise their belongings when they arrive, respond to instructions for tidying away and lining up to go to the toilet. They dispose of food waste after snack.

Staff engage with children well in their chosen play activities. They talk to them about what they are doing and offer them ideas and encouragement. They listen to them read and ask questions to keep them engaged to further support their play.

Children show confidence in communicating their wants and needs to staff.

Staff form strong bonds with the children who come to the club. They are thorough in gaining additional information from the school and children's parents to ensure they can fully support children in enjoying their time at the club.

Staff take time to ask children about their day, comfort them if they are upset, and support them as they play and develop new friendships. Children show they are extremely comfortable in this environment and with all the adults at the club.Staff enjoy celebrating children's success in behaving well at school and at the club.

They ask about the behaviour awards they have achieved that day at school and offer children high praise upon their successes. They support children in developing a positive attitude towards their learning as they congratulate children on the paintings they have done. Children respond well to this positive approach.

The well-organised snack time provides a range of opportunities to develop children's social skills and for them to learn about healthy choices. Children enjoy the range of fruits and vegetables on offer and develop confidence in using knifes to spread soft cheeses and jam on wholemeal pittas. Children sit together, making this a social occasion.

Staff encourage them to try the different fruits and vegetables, discuss the importance of a balanced diet and the importance of brushing their teeth before bedtime.Parents are happy with the club. They say their children enjoy coming, staff are professional and there is a range of activities on offer.

The club sends out a newsletter to inform parents of upcoming events. The club plans to further develop this to provide more detail on the range of activities that they offer.The club ensures that children have opportunities for fresh air and exercise to further support their physical development.

They use the large hall to play games, such as 'duck duck goose', dodgeball and hockey. Children also enjoy the team games on offer by staff in the large court area, where they can play basketball, football and chasing games.The club values professional development.

Staff have a range of opportunities to engage in training opportunities and in gaining recognised qualifications. Staff have supervision meetings and say they feel extremely supported by the leadership team. Staff work closely with the school to ensure they are consistent in strategies for managing children's behaviour and in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

The club has a clear vision in continuing to support staff at the club to grow in confidence as a newly appointed team.
