What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children receive a warm welcome from caring staff as they arrive at their holiday club.
Staff are quick to support children who need extra help settling and finding activities to do. Staff talk to parents to ensure they have all necessary information to keep children safe and healthy. For example, they check all children have hats and sun cream for the hot day ahead.
All children behave really well and feel safe at the club.Staff have excellent timetables running for the children. Children choose between a wide variety of sport, craft and circus-themed activities.
For example, some children choose to play cricket ...outdoors and really enjoy the opportunity to exercise and play with friends. Staff teach older children how to do over arm bowling to develop their cricket skills and coordination. Staff simplify this teaching for younger children who learn how to bowl under arm.
Staff adapt activities for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities so they are fully included with all the fun and energetic sessions.Older children help younger children recall a magic trick they learned from a magician who visited their club. They happily discuss other card tricks he showed them and how much they enjoyed his visit.
Staff celebrate children's achievements. This makes children feel proud and helps them develop high levels of self-esteem. For example, staff state how well a child completes a circus-themed word search, while another staff member praises children who are kind and helpful at the club.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The providers are passionate about delivering high-quality childcare, which meets the needs of all children at their clubs. They ensure staff have training to help them learn positive techniques to support children's behaviour. Staff report they enjoy opportunities to do food hygiene training and sports coaching sessions.
This helps them deliver high-quality activities and contributes to children staying healthy. All staff receive regular training about safeguarding children. This helps them keep their knowledge refreshed.
All staff know the correct reporting procedures should they have any concerns about a child's welfare. The provider ensures funding for holiday activities and food is used effectively. Children in receipt of this funding enjoy healthy and nutritious meals and enrichment activities each day they attend.
Parents say their children love the holiday club and request to come back each summer. The provider sends out questionnaires at the end of camps to gain feedback from parents. Children also share their views and request resources.
New resources are purchased each year to help children follow their interests. For example, following a request the setting bought a new football goal and basket balls. This has helped more children to engage in their chosen sports activities at the same time.
The senior management teams are exceptionally well organised. They create rolling timetables of themed activities and resources. These are moved between the different clubs to ensure children get a wide range of experiences and learn about different topics.
For example, children enjoy being creative and linking their creations to animal themes. They enjoy a week linked to princesses and superheroes with visiting drama workshops. Children explore food and art with round the world themes.
For instance, they learn to make Spanish fans and Aboriginal dot paintings.Senior staff make sure children know what is happening each day through a well-planned welcome meeting. Children are encouraged to discuss the activities for the day.
They play games and meet new friends. Staff help children to discuss their understanding of behaviour expectations at these meetings. For instance, children give examples of how they can look after younger children and be kind to each other.
Staff reinforce this excellent behaviour at the end of every session with a celebration event.Children enjoy opportunities to bake and be creative with food. For example, they make healthy lion's faces with pineapple, tomatoes and carrot.
Staff celebrate these creations and post photographs to share with parents.Staff ensure children have periods of the day to relax and engage in activities they choose. Children socialise, explore building resources and read books at these times.
The provider signs up to summer reading challenges to help children have lots of opportunities to enjoy books and discuss stories.
