What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children enjoy playing with their friends at their after-school club. They talk with excitement about the activities that are planned, as they are collected by the attentive staff from their classrooms. They are fully involved in decision-making, including about which activities they want to take part in.
They play energetically, and enjoy water-play on a hot day. They talk to each other and collaborate as they enthusiastically fill the buckets and figure out how to fix the water pumps. They take part in team games, including football, climbing and circuit games.
Inside, children relax as they paint, and older children con...centrate as they follow the instructions for making tie dye. Staff encourage children to engage together in imaginative and creative play. Children share their accomplishments with staff and enjoy the praise given.
Staff act as positive role models. They attentively listen to children and encourage them to take turns in speaking. Children are well behaved and polite.
Older children readily support younger children with activities and everyday tasks. They learn to cooperate with children of different ages and develop a good understanding of how to support each other. Children have time to interact with their friends, which contributes to the development of their social skills and attitudes.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The manager has successfully addressed the actions from the previous inspection. Staff attend training, including safeguarding and child protection. They have regular discussions with their manager about their continuing development.
They take part in team discussions to make sure they are confident about following procedures and any new guidance. This helps to ensure that staff are confident and that they keep their knowledge current.Staff speak to children about what they are doing; they ask questions and encourage them to extend and develop their play.
Staff display warmth and empathy towards the children. They have a good knowledge of each child and use this to plan activities the children will enjoy. They create a positive environment for children, who respond well to familiar routines.
Children and staff have clear routines to follow and precautions to take in relation to COVID-19 (coronavirus). Children understand why these routines are important, and are familiar with what they need to do when entering the setting. This includes how to maintain good hygiene as they wash their hands.
Staff remind the children to drink water to rehydrate during exceptionally warm weather. This helps them to build their understanding of healthy practices.Parents appreciate that all staff are approachable and caring.
They say that they are extremely happy with the care that their children receive. They say that their children are eager to attend, even on days that are not required. Staff keep parents informed of the setting's procedures.
Good partnership working with the school ensures staff are aware of children's needs and can communicate these with parents and teachers.Staff consider the programme of activities to take account of children's interests. This adds to their enjoyment as they play with familiar resources.

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.All staff have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures, including the wider issues of safeguarding. They complete regular safeguarding training, and are clear about the procedures to follow if they are concerned about a child's welfare.
Robust vetting procedures are completed to ensure staff are suitable to work with children. Staff ensure that children's safety is given priority. They supervise children well and enable them to play in a safe and secure environment.
