This provision meets requirements Children arrive at the club and staff warmly greet them.
Children put their belongings away and staff support younger children, when needed. Staff plan a range of activities based on children's interests and children become settled and engaged quickly. Children work together collaboratively as they build a marble run and have discussions about their school day.
Younger children draw and colour pictures of their 'purple house'. Children know where things are and show confidence when asking staff for resources and games, helping children to gain a strong sense of belonging. Children enjoy the company of staff.
For e...xample, outside there is laughter and excitement, as staff and children run around playing various ball games.The relationships between staff and children are warm and positive. For example, children talk about staff and say 'they are the best'.
Staff use consistent routines and boundaries, helping children to understand what is expected of them. Staff swiftly offer support and reassurance to children, when they need it. They manage minor conflicts well, reminding children of expectations and redirecting them to other activities.
Older children are positive role models for younger children as they say, 'remember no shouting inside'.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Staff plan the environment well to support children's well-being. Children relax and unwind after a busy day as they sit and look through books.
Older children enjoy sitting together to play board games and engage in discussions. Children benefit from forming friendships with children from other classes. For example, children share what they have learned that day at school and teach others about multiplication.
Children confidently relay what they like doing at the club. For example, children excitedly say, 'I like the creative activities.' Children show good concentration and focus as they draw bluebells and build models using small bricks.
They become fascinated when playing with 'stretchy sand', pulling it through their fingers and comparing it to slime. Staff create a warm and caring environment, helping children to feel safe, secure and valued.Children line up and wait patiently to wash their hands for snack.
Staff offer snacks for children that are varied and balanced. There is a selection of fruit available, encouraging children to make healthy choices. For example, children try melon for the first time.
Staff reiterate good hygiene practice and children independently attend to their own self-care needs. Staff obtain information regarding any special dietary requirements and ensure they adhere to this information accordingly.Staff routinely evaluate the club to ensure it best meets the needs of the children who attend.
